Pastor Sailosi Koloto
Hi, my name is Sailosi Koloto "Losi" (pronounced Low-see), I am a Licensed Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church Desert Southwest Conference, walking the path of ministry while studying for my Master of Divinity at Claremont School of Theology. I have been married to my wife, Velonika, for 20 years, and we have three daughters: Agnes, Marion, and Sinisia. I enjoy walking with people in their faith journeys, and I hold close to the words in Romans 14:8: "If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord"
What we believe as Christians
We believe in the triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We have faith in the mystery of salvation in and through Jesus Christ. We hold the belief that God’s redemptive love is realized in human life by the activity of the Holy Spirit, both in personal experience and in the community of believers. We recognize the reign of God as both a present and future reality and the authority of Scripture in matters of faith and practice. We celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.
What we believe as United Methodists
Grace is central to our understanding of Christian faith and life. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, described God’s grace as threefold: prevenient grace, justifying grace and sanctifying grace.
We understand the Christian life as one in which faith and love are put into action and we insist that faith and good works belong together. Because of what God has done for us, we offer our lives back to God through a life of service. United Methodists maintain a balanced view in their ways of thinking through Christian doctrine, believing that the living core of the Christian faith is revealed in scripture, illumined by tradition, enlivened by experience and confirmed by reason.

What is special about Shepherd of the Pines
Our mission statement defines us as “a friendly church growing in love of God and service to neighbor.” Each and every person is welcome for worship and all church activities. As United Methodists, we support outreach projects around the world, but those are in addition to our support of local opportunities including Heber-Overgaard Community Food Bank, Heber-Overgaard Library, Heber-Overgaard Schools, the Senior Center/Meals on Wheels, and Heber-Overgaard Community Resource Network (HOCRN). Our worship style is casual traditional, and the manuscript of the worship service is e-mailed weekly to local members and all who request it so that they can worship at home or during worship if desired.
Shepherd Of The Pines History
Shepherd of the Pines United Methodist Church has been a part of the Heber Overgaard community for over 25 years. Local residents started the founding of the church with the help of the Holbrook United Methodist Church in January 1990. The first worship service was held on Feb 4th 1990 at the Mogollon High School. Through continued growth and fundraising Shepherd of the Pines received its charter from the UMC on April 29th 2001. Our current building was Finished June 3, 2001, and consecrated on June 9tth 2001. Shepherd has always been a friendly, growing congregation serving God and community. Please join us.
Memorial garden
The memorial garden was started almost in the beginning of the current location of Shepherd of the Pines UMC. The goal of the memorial garden has always been to provide a peaceful place of spiritual meditation and reflection not just for our members but also the community. Over the years as members of Shepherd of the Pines have gone to their glory some of their families have chosen to memorialize their memory in the garden.
There are currently 59 members memorialized in the garden. Total memorialized stats are 59 persons: 22 women 37 men and 7 couples. 27 of those memorialized are veterans: 19 men and 8 women. You have to of been a participating member of Shepherd of the Pines to be memorialized in the garden. The garden is open daily during daylight hours. Please do not place or take anything in the garden area.
